תהילים א באנגלית

1. Happy is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scorners.
2. But whose delight is in the Torah of the Lord; and in his Torah he meditates day and night.
3. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
4. The wicked are not so; but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5. Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor the sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the wicked shall perish.

2. The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
3. Let us break their bonds asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4. He who sits in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5. Then he shall speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury.
6. But I have set my king on my holy mountain of Zion.
7. I will tell of the decree; the Lord has said to me, You are my son; this day have I begotten you.
8. Ask of me, and I shall give you the nations for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.
9. You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
10. Now therefore be wise, O you kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12. Worship in purity, lest he be angry, and you perish from the way, for in a little while his wrath will blaze. Happy are all who put their trust in him.

5. For you are not a God who has pleasure in wickedness; nor shall evil dwell with you.
6. The foolish shall not stand in your sight; you hate all evil doers.
7. You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; the Lord will loathe the bloody and deceitful man.
8. But as for me, I will come into your house in the multitude of your love; and in your fear I will worship toward your holy temple.
9. Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before my face.
10. For there is no truth in their mouth; in their heart there is wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.
11. Condemn them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against you.
12. But let all those who put their trust in you rejoice; let them always shout for joy, because you defend them; let those who love your name be joyful in you.
13. For you, Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor you will cover him as with a shield.

11. My defense is of God, which saves the upright in heart.
12. God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day.
13. If a man does not turn, he will whet his sword; he has bent his bow, and made it ready.
14. He has also prepared for him the instruments of death; he makes arrows for the pursuers.
15. Behold, he labors with iniquity, and has conceived mischief, and brings forth falsehood.
16. He made a pit, digging it out, and has fallen into the ditch which he made.
17. His mischief shall return on his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down on his own pate.
18. I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness; and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.

5. For you have maintained my right and my cause; you sat in the throne judging right.
6. You have rebuked the nations, you have destroyed the wicked, you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
7. The enemies have come to an end, in perpetual ruins; for you have destroyed the cities; their memorial is perished.

16. The nations have sunk down in the pit that they made; their own foot is trapped in the net which they hid.

18. The wicked shall be turned back to Sheol, and all the nations that forget God.
19. For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.
20. Arise, O Lord; do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in your sight.

9. He lies in wait secretly, like a lion in his den; he lies in wait to catch the poor; he catches the poor, when he draws him into his net.
10. The helpless collapse; they bow down, and fall into his power.
11. He says in his heart, God has forgotten; he hides his face; he will never see it.
12. Arise, O Lord! O God, lift up your hand; do not forget the humble.
13. Why does the wicked man renounce God? He has said in his heart, You will not avenge.
14. You have seen it; for you behold mischief and spite, to requite it with your hand; the helpless man commits himself to you; you are the helper of the orphan.
15. Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man; seek out his wickedness till you find none left.
16. The Lord is King for ever and ever; the nations have perished from his land.
17. Lord, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will strengthen their heart, you will cause your ear to hear;
18. To judge the orphan and the oppressed, so that none shall any longer terrify innocent men from the earth.

7. Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the Lord shall bring back the exile of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

18. He saved me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated me; for they were too strong for me.

26. With the merciful you will show yourself merciful; with an upright man you will show yourself upright;
27. With the pure you will show yourself pure; and with the perverse you will show yourself subtle.
28. For you will save the afflicted people; but will bring down haughty looks.
29. For you will light my candle; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
30. For by you I can run through a troop; and by my God I can leap over a wall.
31. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; he is a shield to all those who trust in him.

39. I have crashed them so that they were not able to rise; they have fallen under my feet.
40. For you have girded me with strength to the battle; you have subdued under me those who rose up against me.
41. You have also my enemies turn their backs to me; that I might destroy those who hate me.
42. They cried, but there was none to save them; they cried to the Lord, but he did not answer them.
43. And I beat them small as the dust before the wind; I cast them as the dirt in the streets.
44. You have saved me from the strivings of the people; and you have made me the head of nations; a people whom I have not known shall serve me.
45. As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me; the strangers shall submit themselves to me.
46. The strangers shall fade away, and come trembling out of their close places.
47. The Lord lives; and blessed is my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted. 48. It is God who avenges me, and subdues the peoples under me.
49. He saves me from my enemies; you lift me up above those who rise up against me; you save me from the violent man.
50. Therefore I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the nations, and sing praises to your name.
51. Great deliverance he gives to his king; and shows loving kindness to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

3. Day to day utters speech, and night to night expresses knowledge.
4. There is no speech nor are there any words; their voice is not heard.
5. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,
6. Which comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and rejoices like a strong man when he runs a race.
7. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit to the ends of it; and there is nothing hidden from his heat.
8. The Torah of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
9. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
10. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
11. More to be desired are they than gold, even very fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
12. Moreover by them is your servant warned; and in keeping of them there is great reward.
13. Who can discern his errors? Clean me from hidden faults.
14. Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me; then shall I be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.
15. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock, and my redeemer.

13. For you shall make them turn their back; you shall aim your bowstrings against their faces.
14. Be exalted, Lord, in your own strength! We will sing and praise your power.
